SA RAPITA – ISLA CABRERA
This tour starts from Club Nautic Sa Rapita. We head south towards the islands of Cabrera. We’ll cross the Mediterranean Sea for about 5.5 miles. Then we pass several little islands like Na Fordada with its lighthouse, then Na Plana and Illa De Conills where we also make a stopover. The captain explains the fascinating history of the region and Mallorca in general. We’ll then anchor in the bay of the port, a wonderful and quiet place. Here there is time for a snack and a cold drink. After that we navigate to the Cova Blava (the blue cave). At this place we recommend a refreshing swim and/or snorkelling.
We have thought of everything like snorkel equipment and life jackets for the children.

Details of the excursion to Isla Cabrera
If you love nature then Cabrera is something you cannot miss. The island is a rural and maritime nature reserve since 1991. Before that it was a military base (which it really is until today), but no longer active. During this excursion you will get more information about the history of the island. There are no hotels, watercrafts or noise around Cabrera. The only companions are people like you and me, who arrive here by boat.
There are different types of fauna and flora and unique lizards on this archipelago.
It provides protection for the seabirds. The most extraordinary ones are the skuas, gulls, birds of prey such as the Bearded Vultures, the Pergrine Falcon and Eleonara’s Falcon.
The surrounding waters offer shelter for coral, fish, sea turtles, dolphins and passing whales on their unknown route around the world.
In Cabrera there is only one port where you can go ashore for a walk on the island. We can also go for a round trip around the different islands such as Sa Cova Blava (the blue grotto). There is also the possibility to anchor at only some authorized places. The island is bound to many rules and is well controlled; therefore each time a request must be made for any activity. The cruise to Cabrera from Sa Rapita takes about 45 minutes. For me Cabrera is the closest place to the sky in the Baleares.
